He seems like a very insecure guy who thinks he’s smarter than he actually is. Whiny and self/centered too.
He is being honest but the intent is not beneficial. He may be looking for permission. He may be telling you to soften the blow when he cannot help himself. But in the end, he intends to cheat.
The truth is millions of people do have self control. They would see a relationship with you as more important than a momentary fling. They dont have huge problems and need to be on reddit. You can do better than him. He is telling you to.
There’s no “fix” that gets you everything you want. And that’s life.
You can either stay and do what you are doing, or do everything in your power to get back to your kids.
