They aren't intimidated. That's a “sour grapes” self-soothing lie. Some may be jealous. But most simply dislike it. It isn't even a male thing. Most people do not like thinking of their SO's with other people. Everyone has to draw their own lines. The fact that some do not draw it where you (or I) think they should be, does not mean they are weak, or scared, or of any other position that should be shamed or attached.
Hey OP, I can tell that you care very much for your husband and you obviously don't take your vows lightly. I can also tell that you are concerned about what your husband might do/consider if you end the marriage.
You tried to show both sides of the story here- but in reality there is just one, your husband is refusing to get help or put in the work to at least get himself to a healthy place. It would be one thing if he was still in therapy and at least trying. But he's not. Your irritable moods aren't coming out of nowhere, there's a reason for them. So your choices are limited to what you can do, for yourself and your children. Consider that to be your priority and act accordingly.
He's in a hole, and he's been refusing to grab the very nice ladder and the hand you've been offering to get out. It's time that you stop breaking yourself trying to reach him when he won't even try.
