Why is your bf so desperate to have his parents in his life & be a part of your relationship?
I would despise them both as they not only failed in their role to protect their kids, they were ones who assaulted them. I see the parent who covers up the abuse just as guilty as the abuser.
If I was you I'd want to get a clear understanding of what your bf expects from you, because he's really asking you to put on a fake face & act like nothing is wrong every time you meet these people.
That would be too much for me & I'd decline attending any family gatherings.
