Something I like to do when I'm facing a tough decision in my life is to think about what I would tell a friend to do if they were in the same situation. Would you want your friend that you love and care about to continue in this relationship? Would you tell them that they should tolerate the emotional abuse of an addict because they have spent X years with them and have X amount of things together?
