This guy feels bad about breaking up with you after he saw how you reacted to it. So he texts or calls once a week just to make you feel better. And to make sure you're still ok.

It honestly really depends IMO. There's not a lot of into in the original post. The thing is, some people are stuck in marasm and are leeches who need to get a grip and should hear from their friends/SO to work on themselves.
And some people are not super motivated, highly driven individuals. They just kinda want to chill. They work to live, they then participate in low-key, passive hobbies like bindgewatching netflix or reading. And there's nothing wrong with that personality type. Abolutely NOTHING wrong. It's not something to be “repaired”. And if someone tries to tell a person like this that they need to change, that is not okay IMO. Not everyone is ambitious, or a “go-getter” and that's fine. Not everyone has some kind of huge goal they are focused to achieve. That's fine. People differ, the tapestry of personalities is huge.
If the Op is just like that, then bf needs to find a different partner, more personality type A or something, instead of trying to force her to be someone a completely different person that he may eventually like.
