  1. Hello /u/myseelf20,

Your post was removed for the following reason(s):

Your title did not include at least two ages/genders or was not formatted correctly

    Posts must:

include details about the involved parties including ages, genders, and length of relationship, and

request advice in real situations involving two or more people

We are enforcing the two rules listed above by making all titles use the following formatting:

[##X][##X], [## X][## X], or [##-X][##-X] where ## is the age and X is the gender (currently M, F, T, A, NB, FTM, MTF but more can be added). You can have more than two ages/genders listed, but you must have at least two. Here is an example:

[34NB][88-F] We are two people in an example post

Please resubmit with a corrected title.

  2. This is it. I’ve had friends pull this kind of shit before and it’s an immediate boundary and block from me. Who in the world puts up with that?

  3. My husband is an actor and faces rejection all the time. Here's the go-to reply when he thought he nailed an audition for a part but didn't get it: “They decided to go in a different direction.” That's all you have to say to friends/family.

I get that being cut after getting cast is more painful than not getting cast in the first place. I was recently dropped from a friend's jam band (over text as well wtf!) for a similar reason, and it's a deeply humiliating feeling. But it's ok! Let yourself feel embarrassed and lick your wounds for a bit, but then try to look at the bigger perspective: this is just one part, you can always audition for other roles in the future, and objectively this production doesn't seem very professional to me if you get the news over a text instead of a respectful face to face conversation. Take any feedback you got during rehearsals that felt useful to you and use it to grow your craft. It's very unlikely that you were recast because you're “not good enough” in general, but rather they decided you weren't the best fit for this particular character. Try not to internalize this rejection or let it define you. It's just a shitty thing that happened once.

And seriously that conversation should not have been done over text. So rude.

  4. I was wondering when someone else would notice this. Every couple of days I see a post and think “ok, no way relationship_advice is dumb enough to think this is real” and every time I’m wrong. At this point I’m tempted to ask chatGPT if it can design a relationship problem so fake this sub will be able to spot it.
