Childcare is not a problem. We have no issues there. We work well together, the point is I need more than a well functioning family enterprise. You are right we need counseling if there is to be any change. I have already let this issue go at home now and we smile and we took the kids to a science park and we have done the laundry and I have noticed that she is relieved. She thinks I have left that thorny subject. I have not. I will talk about outside help and I will contact a counselor if she is ok with that.
That kind of “shit test” is a shit test. What possible good can come from pulling that.
Congrats on turning yourself around on a bad situation, you pulled off something not everyone can and that's genuinely impressive.
This is going to come down to “what are we willing to show each other to save the marriage” along with whether you both want to save it. She knowingly planted a seed of doubt, so you assuaging the doubt is going to matter and she doesn't have a leg to stand on if she's being honest because that's all down to her saying what she said.
You managing to turn the bad stuff around on your side (sure, a lot for her to deal with at the time which you're open about) and then get her laying extra stuff on…. it's… just why even did she?
STD tests for peace of mind aren't a terrible idea if you genuinely think it's a problem, but it's not going to assuage a cheating angle at all, condoms exist etc… as do people without STDs. Credit card statements? Maybe not a bad idea… being financially open in a marriage isn't generally a bad idea anyway.
For yourself though, and given the clarity of your posts it's probably not an issue, but just to say it: Don't backslide. You've come so far. Those are your wins, don't give them up on this if you feel temptation.
