I hate it. I've been in therapy for years. I've cried multiple times there. I have made it a point to give my male friends space to express themselves and I've tried to be there for them. I've had male/female friends cry on my shoulder. I'm really not the stoic insensitive type. I have been working on being more emotionally vulnerable for years and I would encourage young men to do the same.
But even my own mother really doesn't give me space to cry. In my family, I'm supposed to be the one people lean on, but I'm not really allowed to lean on people. My dad is the same way. You lean on him, he doesn't lean on you.
The women I'm attracted to for the most part like strong masculine guys. I am someone with numerous platonic female friends and it really sucks to hear when they complain about a guy who was just a tad too vulnerable.
