   “Struggled to be a dad” already rubs me off wrong because being a dad is choice. Being a present dad and husband is also a choice, and effort is the bare minimum.

4. I would also go to the Police Precint and ask to speak to the Commanding Officer. Explain what happened and bring your receipts as well as the messages your ex sent you saying he sold your stuff and what the officers told you.

   I would also speak with your former landlord to make sure that the apartment doesn't stay in your name and that your ex just let his brother move in.
