I feel bad for this girl, this very much reads like someone that knows they failed their daughter but feels like they've fixed it and is confused why the daughter is acting like it's still broke.
He did everything he could to make her resent their father/daughter relationship, but then thinking he's “fixing” it made her completely dependent on the very relationship she resents.
