It’s equally likely he’s a serial cheater with much younger women, never worked on his yard before and then started working on his yard every single time OP was outside and this caused issues and was a final straw for Claire.
We literally have zero context other than it causing a huge fight. It could be either scenario… or something else entirely.
Claire sounds annoying and she could well be irrational, angry and unfair. But at the same time Chris did come to apologise to OP and at the same time drop in that he found her attractive….. he could have just said something along the lines of, ‘it’s a misunderstanding but my priority is my family.’ He didn’t need to say ‘my wife won’t let me talk to you. My wife thinks you may be attracted to me as well’. Again I’m not necessarily sticking up for Claire (she may well be a loon) but just pointing out we have zero idea of what has actually gone on in their relationship.
OP has handled it well and should avoid them both.
