The principle is fine. Getting away on your own isn't a problem at all. Most, but not all couples I know, take some holidays separately. I'm about to go on a touring holiday with my best mate while his wife goes on a girlie week to the sun. There will also be some separate weekend activities through the year. But everyone is comfortable with it all and no one is getting upset about it. And I'm pretty sure if it was gonna be every 4th weekend forever it absolutely would be an issue. I'm not sure that all the people on here supporting OP would be saying the same if their SO was proposing the same deal. I'm content to be wrong about that but I've never come across this before.
