Mate, in the most respectful way possible, you’re completely unaware of our personality types, our upbringings, our financial situations and our mentality. I’ve asked people to stay out of the age gap because that is not the bone of contention in this scenario. I know it hurts but tbh it’s understandable that your boss doesn’t want a couple involved. It can be destructive for the company, many places refuse to even hire couples. I do think looking for another job may be best so that if the company fails you’ll have another source of income. We can’t tell you what to do but if you listen to any advice I’d suggest taking a step back to think about things once you’ve gotten over the emotional shock.

Tons of single parents have perfectly functional, healthy relationships with a partner who occasionally spends time on their own. Shit, I’m married with kids and both me and my spouse have weekend getaways to have a bit of alone time. Having a fit about something like this means that you may be incompatible with being an adult.
