2. This is a classic case of sunk cost fallacy. You feel that you can't leave him now and want to make it work, because you've been with him for so long you don't want it to seem like a waste of time. He has done things that made you want to end it multiple times, but he just manipulated you into giving in and then you just waste more time.

   Maybe this time is different, but he has no need to fix things. Things may be fixable but only if he wants them to be fixed. He has no motivation to fix his issues because he knows by now that you will take him back no matter what he does or doesn't do. That's what your actions have told him.

   Whatever you do, value yourself and your time. Do not waste more of your time. You will be stuck in this cycle forever if you don't realize you're in it sjd get out. It may feel like a waste, that'd suck, but it's better to “waste” 8 years on someone than to waste 10 years or 15 years on someone. I've seen it happen to people I care for and it sucks. You can do what you want, but ultimately you should do what YOU want and not worry about what he tells you or cries about after the fact. If he wanted to change, he would.
