Yeah, this is so not cool.
There was a similar post on this subreddit yesterday where someone was writing her boyfriendās essays. Hereās a copy/paste of parts of my response there:
ā I encourage you to be mindful of the language you use, as that can impact how you view and assess the situation. YOU do not āneedā to write anything. YOU do not āneedā to wake up early to finish his assignment. He may be expecting it, but that is on him. And if you do it, it is because you are choosing to do it.
ā Please understand that you are not doing him any favors here. In the short term, he may get a better grade. But in the long term, he is not developing skills he needs to be successful.
And I would addāagree with the commenter above re not being passive aggressive. Be direct.
how do I explain itās not nice and how itās hurtful to say those things even when he says itās a joke
You don't. He doesn't have the mental or emotional capacity to understand. You made him breakfast and he called you names because you didn't use the new knife. Then he started crying about cancel culture because you said it wasn't nice to say.
I'm sorry but what do you see in this guy? He honestly sounds like he's less intelligent than most people.
When you cut the bread a few days before did you even have the new knife? Not that it excuses what he said but if the knife wasn't even available then what is his logic here? Again he honestly sounds dumb.
