This whole situation sounds like a trainwreck
They have work events, and she typically attends only if I want. We just never seen him prior, but I'll definitely be tagging along just to make my presence known. Of course, much more tame as it'll be a work event.
Your husband sounds like an immature nightmare. How is your communication? Do you know how he views his role as a father and how he sees his position in the family? So I don’t “allow” him to be treated the way they treat him and I have tried in the past to tell them to stop, and they turned it back around on me and also him at times (not to his face). I complain to my dad when my mum says something out of line to him and he will tell her off for it and goes quiet, but then turns it around and makes it my fault somehow.
I’ve mentioned in my post we’re currently looking for a house that’s affordable. We’re in the process of making an application for one house, and viewing another next week so hopefully we’ll be out of our parents’ homes soon!

Now, whether or not the mom finds out is up to the OP. It's pretty much the last chance the OP has to ask for her mother's advice or support. At first I was going to say lie to her, which I am absolutely ok with, but then I thought this would be a situation where one might turn to their parent(s) for advice.
