Please, please don't take any of his excuses as a reason because he WILL escalate his thrill chasing if he believes he's getting away with it. I wish I'd of listened to this same advice. I'd of stopped a further 3 years of unnecessary heartbreak.
You shouldn't feel bad. People need to learn to not catfish when doing the live! dating thing. My friend has been trying the on-line dating thing for almost 2 years now and she gets situations like this more often than she doesn't (the catfishing part) Like, she will get pictures that were taken 10-12 years ago from someone (we are late 30s) and when she would specifically ask why he was sending her photos from 2009, they make up an excuse like “oh I still look the same basically!” No one looks the same from that amount of time. They say the same things to her when she is truthful and diplomatically ends it. He says things like that to make you feel bad and make you take pity on him. He lied to you and expected you to just awkwardly ignore the lie and still move forward pursuing a relationship with you. Not very respectful or reasonable on his part.
