You are one of very few people that commented that actually understands what I am trying to convey. I've had similarly frustrating conversations and it's easy to give into anger and resentment and I know I should have a more reasonable outlook like yours. Your partner chose you for your strengths and I should be grateful when other people do the same for me… It's just difficult to shake the feeling that I've been manipulated, if that makes sense.

except that they aren't related to each other so while it is weird it isn't actually wrong. I understand why you would feel icky about it but objectively they're not really related. So if something is going on, honestly you should just stay out of it.
Does your mom have a history of emotionally abusing you? This was a truly cruel thing for her to say, she is not on your side. I would consider going no contact/low contact with someone capable of this level of cruelty.
