I wasn’t going to address this one, but I’ve had a change of heart. Please understand that fear tactics like this don’t normally work on trauma victims. Let's pump the brakes at this statement. OP is asking for her bf to make a lifelong commitment, not handing her the remote so she can watch her favorite show. Marriage has to be something that both people want equally or it is already doomed to fail. Way, way too many unhappy marriages have started soff because some guy who wasn't ready, or felt societal pressure, or “went with the flow” got married and resented it. Much like a couple agreeing to have children or sex, enthusiastic yes needs to happen here not a ” oh well you twisted my arm”.

The cats not having routine feeding times is the wrong thing to do. Cats love routine and predictability, to the point that many people who have trouble remembering things like medications will train their cats to associate meds time for the human with treats for the cat so the cat will annoy them at say 4pm on the dot every day which reminds them to take their meds. Cats settle into routines quickly too.
