  1. She will probably have to pay spousal support if he files given the difference in their incomes. Inharried someone who was financially like that and I had to pay him 1500/month for 18 months and then 1000/month after the trial for the next 15 months. He got 41k out of me all while I was raising our kid all my by myself. Yes I had a lawyer and he didn't. The judge just entered our incomes into a calculator and said this is what I owed him. He got half of everything that could have gone to his kid.

  2. I just wanna point out that being fully recovered from a stroke, and functioning like you once did are two entirely separate things. Most people suffer from permanent cognitive and communication issues after a stroke, and are deemed fully recovered. In the US, treatment typically involves learning to compensate, and getting quality restorative care isn’t a thing for a lot of people. Insurance generally slow rolls referrals on critical services, because 2 years post stroke new learning and restorative functioning are not shown possible through evidence.

It may be that he has subtle cognitive changes Specifically most stroke survivors have trouble with planning, communication, and emotional lability. It’s worth considering to what extent if any these difficult personality traits existed prior to the stroke. Lots of times these things get over looked.

If he was like this before, I’d really consider running.

  3. Lock down your finances, take 50% from all joint bank accounts and put it in your personal account. Stop all joint credit cards. Lock down your credit and that of your children. Get checked out for STD’s. Hire a divorce attorney and start the process. If he is hiding out with his AP then send him a text saying if he comes home now he has a chance to save your marriage if he doesn’t his belongings will be on the lawn and expect divorce papers.

If you take him back have him sign a post nup with an infidelity clause. If you live in an at fault State sue his AP. If she has a partner let them know about the affair. Let his family know about the affair.

  4. I don’t feel old! Probably would have been more accurate to say “at this stage of life” since I’m absolutely in a different place from where I was even ten years ago. Don’t plan on returning to school for another degree and given where my career is at workplace friendships are unlikely (since I’m hiring people I need to keep a professional distance to avoid potential favoritism issues know what I mean?). I’m not the sort to get involved in clubs and groups especially with my work schedule so I just don’t meet new people. And to top it off we plan to have a kid in a couple years and from what I’ve heard it doesn’t get easier to make and maintain friendships once kids are in the picture.

But I’m sure in 50 years I’ll be able to make friends with all the other residents of the retirement home haha
