That is a very attractive trait. There should be room for both types of compliments imo
So it’s time for some self reflection. He is wrong for lying. Now it’s time to look deeper at why he would lie. Yes the ever present favorite he’s cheating….but that does not appear to be the case here. Likely it is because it’s easier to tell a white lie than deal with telling you. So now is decision time. You now know what their relationship is. They have a close friendship as well co-parenting dynamic that likely will not change (he just will avoid telling you). If you can handle this time for a sit down on honesty. If you cannot handle it, it’s time to cut your losses. I know coparents who have this dynamic- and it is purely an honest platonic love and respect as coparents. They still consider themselves family, look out for one another…yes help each other financially if one is struggling. Really do some reflection on how you feel with dynamic knowing this is what it is. Then decide what you want to do.
