It actually is hard for a guy to answer that because we genuinely don't know how to answer that. Love isn't some emotional feeling that gives us butterflies in our stomachs. It's an action and in this case, it's his job. Now, if he's not doing his job, then you should give him hints as to what your love language is. Maybe it's random loving things that you didn't ask for, holding your hand, or maybe it's cleaning your toilet. I don't know you or what loving actions you crave but that's likely the kind of feedback that he would respond do. Not a bunch of psycho babble and strange games that make him talk about his feelings.
Yes. Either he is not marriage material, or does not see their union working out. In which case, kids should be off the table.
Strange, but in sharing this dilemma with friends here in Australia, I’m finding that a whole heap of people here are having kids first, getting married later.

I was halfway through criticising this choice with a work colleague, only to find that she and her partner have two kids and no marriage.
‘Why would we?’ She said, ‘That’s $15,000 that we can put to much better use on the needs of the kids, or holidays or something useful. Seems a waste to spend it on a ceremony.’
I had to backpedal out of that conversation right quick.
