I've been in a very similar situation – except that it wasn't cheating, but lying about things (big and small) that led to me breaking up with her. I made the same mistake that you apparently are in a later relationship by being too suspicious and not trusting enough because I wanted to be sure I wasn't being lied to again. I'm pretty sure that was part of why she broke up with me.
In my next relationship after that, I started doing it again, but fortunately she tolerated it for a while until I became confident that she was honest and I broke free of it.
Please don't allow your ex to destroy your current relationship because you mistakenly assume your new partner is the same. Stay aware of course just in case, but I think you have to trust unless your current partner gives you reasons not to. It's a different person. Give him a fair chance.
