That's what lost you? This whole story seems whack. Normally, when one person has a gut feeling or accuses the other, they are cheating and feel guilty ( they wouldn't kick out the other partner for this) or there gut is absolutley right.

I'm gonna qualify this with: I'm a female and SA survivor. I'm all about believing the victim.
There must be something different about the navy bc about 9 men in my family are merchant mariners, a couple are captains. 5 others are military (all but AF). I have even more friends in the military.
That I know of, 4 of them have been accused of SA and had to pull security footage to prove that they did not SA the claimant. The captains have shared the multiple false accusations they have had to field for themselves and others. Again… security footage to support the defense.
If you're going to be SA, it ain't gonna be on a merchant ship. Stabbed? OH YEAH. But not SA.
