Woman here. Wife is wrong. I give my partner an “out” even when he doesn’t want one. Sometimes, if my mom is in the area, she’ll stop by for a cup of tea and we will chat. I don’t expect him to join us, and I definitely don’t expect him to act like a “host”. yes, I am aware of the issue in this relationship and it has became a factor of many. I have plans in staying there not only because of her, but it's for my future as well. I'm doing my best to keep in touch with her, I am making her feel like we can feel each other's presence despite our distance (she noticed it). We always talk about doing things with her in real life too so that maybe a sign of it.
