I only have how you described things, so it’s possible you missed something and obviously if you don’t know, we can’t know. But if you want my take? The reality of planning a 2 weeks road trip around the country before you’ve even decided to make things official, and before you’ve even met one another as a couple, probably was just too much too soon. It’s only been 3-4 months since she ended a LTR. You probably don’t know all the details of that relationship. I can say from experience, I was never ready for another serious relationship after ending one for at least a year after. Everyone is different, but I have a strong suspicious she thought she was ready when you were far away and kinda just a concept in her head, but confronted with the commitment of you flying to see her and also putting money/concrete plans for a trip 5+ months away, probably made her realize she isn’t ready. Or, she doesnt even realize she isn’t ready and is instead blaming you when the reality is she’s simply not ready yet.
I’d probably give her a lot of space if I were you. This has absolutely nothing to do with you, from how you’ve written it, and everything to do with her and her healing. Probably, things don’t work out between you two, as from experience, I had a few ‘flings’ before I was ready to really date again, and when I was really ready to date, often those flings fizzled out rather than turning into something serious. The reality is, you guys are long distance. That’s probably not a great foundation for a serious relationship at your age.
You did the right thing. But just to join in, get out before you eventually do but have little to no compassion left for anyone else, since you used it all up on the black hole of a person, and now you end up like her.
Stuff like this is how people become insecure and don't trust others.
