OP, this has most likely already been posted but I would suggest breaking the rent and other utilities down to percentage based on net or take home pay per month. Then each contribute that amount to a new bank account from which you (or he) could pay each bill. Both you and he would retain similar percentages of your take home pay to do with what you so choose while ensuring your basic needs are met.
