This honestly is not what I would have expected. If I'm reading this correctly, for the sake of keeping it simple, I'm going to base my response on the two of you getting paid monthly (which I'm all but certain isn't the case, but it's easier to tie into bills which are generally budgeted monthly), and I'm going to assume that you both net roughly 70% after taxes. I again assume that's not necessarily the case, but it should be fine to make an argument.
Accordingly, let's assume you net around $24K/month. Let's assume she nets around $2,300/month. Let's just round up to $3,000 for further easy math. That puts you both as taking home $27K as a couple. Obviously we don't know the living situation, but let's just assume that all your essential monthly expenses are around $5K. You're proposing that you essentially transfer $11K into each of your personal accounts every month.
So yeah, that's logically a sweet deal for her, but it also makes absolutely no sense. Why even bother having personal accounts at that point. I'd completely understand why she's uncomfortable as it's like you're paying her a salary yourself. I really don't get why you'd even propose that.
As for options, one would be not going the personal account route especially compared to your proposal. Two would be what she's proposing which is fairly standard, and certainly the best route given the two of you aren't married. In my made up scenario, that has you paying around $4,500 of living expenses and her paying $500. She's left with $2,500/month to save, spend, or whatever else. You're left with $19,500. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than handing her money for really no reason. I don't think saying “either way” is even remotely comparable.
As for school, I don't think they necessarily have to go to school together. I don't think that's really worth an argument.
Big picture, this is simply reality. While I think your proposal is a bad idea as is and described why, regardless of what you choose, the fact is that you make 10x more than her. You didn't even provide context as to what the cost of living might look like based on what you (or both of you) want. We'd logically have to assume you'd tend to lean towards a higher cost of living, but that presumably would be something she can't afford if she insists on “holding her weight.” So would that mean living somewhere you're unhappy with because she's too proud?
If you can't come to a sustainable compromise, then moving in together should be off the table, and logically your relationship should end because you'd be incompatible. Separately, what's the rush? You're 5 months in. It's a huge step. Slow down. Good luck.
