Couple things….
First, I agree they shouldn't divorce over this, or at the very least not divorce until trying every other option available. I said that in my original comment.
Second, I disagree with calling the wife a “kid”. Do we know how old they were when her and the brother hooked up? I didn't see that personally, but my impression was that she was still a young adult at the time, not a kid. And further, even if she was a teen at the time, she carried the lie well into adulthood so it doesn't actually matter her age was when the physical relationship happened, only that she was still lying about it as an adult.
So while your teacher might have sage advice, it doesn't apply here.
