My sister married “a great guy” who liked to drink a little too much. It’s been almost 15 years and she is MISERABLE. He’s a functioning alcoholic. He holds down a high paying job, but he drinks every damn day – even if it’s just a few beers in the evening. She hates it. She says it’s gotten to the point where the second he’s tipsy, she shuts down from him. Their relationship is toxic, and when he’s been drinking (which, again, is every day) and they fight he spews hatred at her. Cusses at her, rants about how she’s the problem, spins paranoid delusions about how she’s manipulating him, and above all, claims that this drinking isn’t the problem, she’s the only one who thinks it’s a big deal, and she’s just using it as a scapegoat. The crazy thing is that no one would ever believe it – he still looks like the “great guy” husband and dad on the outside. All of that happens late at night after the kids are in bed. They have 2 kids and she’s afraid to get divorced because he’d get 50/50 custody. I’m the only one she can talk to about this and it kills me to witness her misery.
Don’t marry this guy. Please.

Depending on your location and local laws, issue him a 30 or 60 days written notice to quit (that you will not be renewing his lease, even without a written contract he is on a month-month lease). If he doesn't leave after the required notification period, you can start eviction proceedings.
