At first I thought “maybe he doesn’t know when to stop with a running joke,” but after a re-read, it sounds like either a) he’s a demanding and controlling person, b) you’re not that into him and he’s not getting the message and not handling it well, or, c) some combo of both. 2. You're right. But to clarify, he bought the property after we met. I went to walk throughs with him because he has repeatedly said he wants it to feel like my home too. I helped him pick out colors for walls, paint, do repairs, pick out furniture, etc… My impression is he wants us to split everything 50/50 (mortgage, utlities, HOA, food, etc… while he reaps the benefits.

4. Voluntourism is the worst of both worlds though, because the untrained temporary “volunteers” are literally taking away jobs that could be done better by local people.

   For example, a friend of mine did a volunteer trip to Ghana where she taught a class of children for a month in a rural school. She was 18 with no teaching qualifications or experience, and it cost her something like £4000 to do this. These kids were spending the whole school year being taught by a rotating cast of different Western teenagers, each of whom only stayed for a few weeks. Imagine how much better it would have been for the kids' education and the local community if some of the thousands of pounds those people were spending to get cute Instagram photos with grinning African kids were instead donated to fund the training and salaries for one or two local people to be employed as qualified, permanent, paid teachers?

5. Right? It honestly feels a bit cruel and immature to treat your partner this way for this long for something so innocent and normal, and something he only did in a moment of need when she wasn't available. Instead of sitting down and communicating properly, even if, like you said, she didn't know why she's feeling this way… making him feel so guilty and literally breaking down sobbing and apologizing, only to then continue giving him the cold shoulder and silent treatment… she's 35 years old. He's not breaking any boundries cuz she never set any (how the porn+masturbation talk was never brought up in 5 years is beyond me, but I digress).
