look, you’ve clearly explained it to him multiple times. i’m in your boyfriends economic position in my own relationship – my boyfriend doesn’t have those types of savings to fall on, but that has not obscured my vision as to how he approaches money. if he’s not getting it, he just isn’t taking the time to sit himself down and actually understand. it took me a few months at first, but i took the time to assess how he and i approach money differently, and now i keep his concerns in mind when i’m planning things, and i know I would NEVER make him pay if he were to come to christmas with my family (hasn’t happened yet cuz it would be international travel). if he hasn’t taken the time to really understand, it doesn’t seem he respects your financial position, or really you in general.
Communication is important here, as mentioned by other commenters. However I think its also important to understand that when you live with someone else it's going to be imperfect. The house won't be perfect or up to your standards because you online with a person who is different from you. If you can't be somewhat understanding of those differences then living with someone might not be for you.
