The thing is, I feel safe with my partner and have absolutely not inkling that he'd actually hurt me. Like I said in my post, I have been abusive to my partner, maybe that's having an impact on his reaction? I don't know, breaking up is an absolute last resort, I want to work through this, I just don't know what I can do my end to make him understand the gravity of the situation.
