OP, the burden of policing her drinking shouldn’t be onto you. She should be able to tell herself or have some discipline to control her drinking. It doesn’t look like she’s interested in stopping her drinking.
I hope that the breakup would be the wake up call that she desperately needs. That hopefully makes her take a step back, reevaluate her choices and get all the help that she needs. Hopefully she can be a better partner for the next person she has a relationship with. This relationship is getting very abusive at this point for you.
I think what they're saying is therapists aren't immune to manipulation. Especially if they're only hearing one side of the story. Not that he doesn't deserve therapy but it genuinely might not be beneficial if he doesn't want to get better and continues a victim mindset.
