This is a 26 year old grown ass women, not a kid. Also, this is NOT behavior one would expect from even just barely legal adults. I didn’t do things like this at 17, never mind 26.
As a person affected with hypothyroidism this feels so wrong. First of all, she should be on her medication. Second, I don’t think you understand how naked it is to lose weight having hypothyroidism even with the medication. It’s so SO wrong of you to just tell her to go back to the gym. Given her mom’s history with thyroid cancer, I’d also suggest she sees a doctor and have it checked.
