You are one of very few people that commented that actually understands what I am trying to convey. I've had similarly frustrating conversations and it's easy to give into anger and resentment and I know I should have a more reasonable outlook like yours. Your partner chose you for your strengths and I should be grateful when other people do the same for me… It's just difficult to shake the feeling that I've been manipulated, if that makes sense.

This is a seven year long friendship that you found in adulthood. That doesn't mean it'll last forever, but tell her what you've written here. Tell her how she's making you feel and see what she says. A good friend will sympathize and feel bad and strive to do better.
