There is no 'right' or 'wrong' in staying friends with exes. The issue here is that you got together with someone who wants to be friends with exes when it is something you can't tolerate and which causes you to break trust by snooping.
So yes, I do think you are wrong in this. You knew from the start that he is someone who keeps friendships with women he slept with and you willingly went into a relationship with him. You do not have the right to change a partner to suit you once you have gotten to a certain relationship-length. If you had an issue with him being in contact with exes, you should have not gotten together with him.
That said, it is fine to want a partner who isn't friends with exes. A lot of people think like you. But then you have to communicate that dealbreaker of yours clearly when finding a new partner so that everyone who wants to be friends with exes can then walk away, as they are not fitting partners for you.
As it is right now? You need to either break up with him or accept that he is friends with these women. Everything else would be controlling – you were the one who didn't communicate from the start what you want from a partner, he did nothing wrong.
