It sounds like the guy was nervous because he is a teenager meeting his GF's family for the first time. Teenagers aren't typically alone with adults they don't know, plus it's the parents, and maybe he is already awkward.

You should mind your own business. You are studying psychology and are not in a TV movie playing Sherlock homes diagnosing someone over one minor detail everyone missed. The correct answer tends to be the easiest one, which is that this dude was under the third degree, meeting a GF's parents, and he is an awkward teenager like many male teens.
You’ll be happy to hear it’s been a really long process? I was codependent, looking for validation everywhere but within myself, jumping from one relationship to the next, cheating and being cheated on and emotionally abused. Mainly I took responsibility for myself, let go of being the victim, practised gratitude, started setting boundaries and learned to love myself! I’m single and literally happier than I’ve ever been.
