I would not necessarily recommend asking a girl to your prom if she's from another school and you've not interacted much. Sounds like a recipe for awkwardness to me. But if you're doing it, I'd suggest texting her about it. Gives her time to think about it. It's not an awkward first call between you two, and if she says no, the letdown will be easier.
