Piano teacher here. Banging students is not part of regular lessons. I have zero issues with age gaps in relationship but this gives me the ick. There is already a power difference in a teacher/student situation like lessons. Do you know his other students? I'd ask them if they get the same attention or vibe. As to his family… letting them know may save another student from predation. Either way, get a new teacher and focus on the music.
what I do is find out if the person wants advice or emotional support. There are YouTube videos about providing emotional support, but I’m pretty sure they come down to quietly listening. And then, acting like you care, includes like wrapping an arm around her shoulders, or tilting your head against her arm while she’s talking to you it just depends on what she’s comfortable with physically.
If it seems like there’s some emotional support needed, you could just make some tea have her sit down in a comfortable place maybe give her a comfy blanket to wear and sit quietly, and just be there with her
Sometimes I have to ask if they want a solution or emotional support and I love sprouting solutions. It’s hard for me to slow down and use my growing emotional intelligence to understand what they need. And not force what I think they need onto them. It takes practice.
And definitely if you have comments for what she saying, try to keep them to yourself because who knows how she’ll take that generally comments are unneeded unless you’re just saying something that shows you were listening.
Like keep your opinions bottled away during the emotional support phase. You might have all kinds of ideas, feelings, opinions , advice, etc. just stay quiet
