Honestly, you’re kind of adorable. But I never said she would be held criminally liable. I said…. “Those are serious allegations, both of which she either knows are false or can’t prove which means so it would be very easy for him to sue her for defamation.” Even though I did mention defamation can be illegal, I never said OP could be charged or convicted of it. I stated multiple times he could sue her which would be civil court and not criminal.
this isn't a situation where you are going to a restaurant you don't like but you keep quiet because you know everyone else likes it… this is YOUR life. getting married is a huge deal and in this case, not marrying a person is also looking out for their wellbeing too. Flip the script… if you were about to get married and your SO had reservations like this what would you want them to do? Just repress their feelings for years until maybe one day the resentment builds up enough and they leave you??
