Honestly you've already gone above and beyond what a good employee should do when they're quitting so I would just quit and not even think twice about it. You gave them two months notice where as the standard amount of time is two weeks so you have have nothing to be ashamed of, move on with your life because they will move on with theirs and be just fine.
Honestly to me it sounds like hes battling some mental health issues. Reading the comments I'm saddened to see everyone saying to just dump him or yell at him. Depression can often cause lack of personal hygiene, including basic stuff like brushing your teeth. I myself am battling with depression and find it hot to brush my teeth, especially at night. I suggest you try and talk to him, have an open heart conversation and ask him about his mental health. Mental health in men is very often overlooked. People dont check up on guys and he might even hide his feelings and tell you everything is fine. Look for other signs of depression or other mental problems and please talk to him. Depression is a silent killer especially in men who tend to hide it and push it away. It can start off with small things like that but it can get worse.
