It's a bit more than “a disagreement”. This particular “disagreement” indicates entirely opposing values about an important issue that involves multiple people close to them, and a major difference in parenting attitudes as well. Husband and his family just revealed themselves as bigots, and he did nothing while the parents verbally abused a family member for being gay. That's not excusable.
And the fact that he tried to entirely shut down conversation about it and refuses to discuss it with OP really leaves no way to resolve anything and move forward. Not that there's really any good way to move forward with a victim-blaming bigot who is condoning abusive behavior, who can't even say he wouldn't react the same way if his own children came out as gay.
