I can see a case where he wants to keep going back for nostalgia. If he lived there since he was 12 it can be naked for him to let go. He likely didn’t want to sell it at all.
Offer to go with him or talk to her about the house and gauge his reaction. If it’s just to be nice and help with stuff it shouldn’t be an issue. If it is, there’s more to it for him at least.
