Honestly, no harm in seeing where it goes imo. I met my bf when I was 19, he was 25. Smaller age gap, but similar in the “early young adult and mid/later 20s” relationship. We're currently 22 and 28 rn. You definitely have a larger age gap between 20 and 29, but I agree with others that there are some things to think about.
Where is he in his life? He's almost 30, that's a completely different stage than you. With my bf, it took me a while to be comfy with the age gap, but once I realized literally that was the ONLY thing in my “cons” list, I decided hey. Why not give it a go? Think about if that may be the case for you too. It also seems like your friends are against the idea of you being with him due to said age gap. So my girlfriend isn't really practical with computers.
