What I will say, is I rather suspect it's more that his mother doesn't trust live! banking. She's of a generation who are cynical and think it isn't safe. She's never had live! banking and has had this arrangement with boyfriend's older siblings until each of them moved out, when she set it up with the next one.
I find it bizarre that she'd rather go all the way into town to the bank with his card than do a few seconds on online banking. Secondly, you can't do anything. You need to break up. Telling her you have snooped is completely optional. You can just tell you don't believe her, think she is lying, and has obviously lost love for you. Reject her answers, and tell her your break up is not negotiable.
