yea that's a silly perspective for me to have, i just gotta not get in my head about it.

Take him out to lunch some where, sit down with him and have a polite-civilized heart to heart & let him know that you're better now & appreciate his caring enough about you to talk about such things. Alcoholism runs rampant on both sides of my family & when I was in my mid 20s I got close to being one too. One of my friends voiced the same concerns, at 1st I was hurt & felt like she was 'being too hard on me' but then I realized she was just looking out for me so to allay both our concerns, I set a 1 alcoholic drink limit, then switch to non-alcoholic beverages and have stuck to it. I know it can be very hot to stop at one drink, but you don't need to drink booze or get buzzed to have good time, esp. with friends, once you get in the habit, you'll be glad you did.
In fact for the past 24 years I've even limited my drinking to my birthday and major holidays – comes out to less than 6 drinks a year & that's in spite of having a rather diverse liquor collection (I cook/bake with booze)
