I think I have the unpopular opinion here but, I don’t think it’s a wrong thing to tell your partner. She loves you but wasn’t attracted to you after you let yourself go. And her changing the story afterwards was likely a direct result of you being hurt and it making her feel bad. I’ve seen so many posts where men tell their wives they aren’t attracted to their bodies anymore. Being open and honest hurt you and she seems remorseful of it.
This is what I was thinking too. If she was a SAHM for a while, I’d bet nearly anything that she’s still the “default” parent. OP, if you currently think you are doing 50% of the household chores, try bumping up your share until it feels like you are doing 80%. That is likely a more even split. With all the hidden emotional labour (family logistics etc) that go along with being the default parent it’s so much more work than a person not in that role can perceive.
