So, two things.

Another you could try. Don’t make negative points. Try to make more positive comments and see how she response to that. What that will do is help minimize her interpretation as disapproval for show, and see it as approval in return.

He’s gone through a lot of crazy shit in life. I just wanted to be the person to love him and treat him properly. Everything was amazing a few months ago. It’s just recently that he’s grown cold and distant.
Gina spun such a good story when we first met, at this point, I can't tell truth from fiction. But we should have a long discussion after we both have a chance to let our emotions settle. I admit I ambushed her and put her against the ropes and I wasn't in a good place in my head either so that last conversation wasn't really fair.

Honestly, it could really go any direction here. But he sounds like an understanding, well-adjusted dude. You should tell him how you feel, well adjusted adults can be fruends still after that sort of thing. If the feelings arent reciprocated, probably take some time for yourself away from him but based on what you wrote here i doubt he would react poorly or end your friendship if you aproach it respectfully.
