I'm sorry, this is obviously a stressful and sad situation for you. Have you considered talking with a therapist? My husband has 3 older sisters that are 10, 12 & 14 years older than him. They are very close but he was like an only child. They all started their own families before he was a teenager, and were very much caught up in that together. They've mentioned how different their parents treated the three girls growing up vs my husband, like they were different people. I don't feel like he got the attention he deserved; he was depressed and turned to alcohol and drugs at a young age. At 46 his mental health is shredded and he's in rehab for the 2nd time this year. He has mentioned several times he should have tried getting therapy long before now.
What I do know is that he has the best group of friends. They really care for each other and are the family that he chose. He can talk with them about anything, and no matter how much time goes by they just pick up right where they left off. No judgement.

Your wife, tbh needs understanding, more support, and therapy in addition to a conversation with the doctor about why pregnancy is a bad idea. Not saying that ye dinna support her ye ken? Just being a A type person then becoming disabled is rough.
